One Stop Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Surgical First Assistant Scrub Practitioner to join the Theatre team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role covers acting as First Assistant to the Consultant Surgeon, assisting in operative procedures and perioperative care, and working within the OSH values to deliver patient-focused service.

• Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC with no referrals/restrictions to practice.
• Scrub post-registration qualification and SFA Course are required.
• ILS/ALS training is preferred; CPD is encouraged.

About the role
Your responsibilities will include to:

• Act as First Assistant to the Consultant Surgeon, with autonomy in suturing.
• Participate and assist in operative procedures and with pre- and post-operative care as required.
• Demonstrate competence level of knowledge within the specialist field and always work within predetermined areas of competence in accordance with the NMC or HPC code of conduct.
• Practice within the limits of OSH policies and guidelines.
• Be expected to maintain a high level of skill and professionalism.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve and maintain an outstanding, patient-focused service.

For Clinical Roles:
The successful candidate will be expected to work on a shift basis, working 37.5 hours per week over a 7 day rota during the hospital operating hours. The rota is not fixed, is subject to change in order to meet operational needs and will be required to work weekends and bank holidays in accordance with the rota.

About you
The ideal candidate will have the following qualification, skills and experience:

• Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC with no referrals/restrictions to practice.
• Scrub post-registration qualification.
• SFA Course.
• ILS, ideally ALS.
• Current and consolidated experience as a theatre scrub practitioner and willingness to learn/participate in other procedures.
• Current and consolidated experience as a Surgical First Assistant, ideally within a private healthcare setting.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Orthopaedic background.
