Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Surfacing Supervisor/Foreman for night-time highways works in Luton. The initial 6-week contract could extend for the right candidate, with potential long-term opportunities.

You will supervise surfacing crews, ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards, and coordinate with management and clients. The role requires proven supervisory experience in highways surfacing, CSCS, and ideally SMSTS/SSSTS.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Surfacing Supervisor/Foreman or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of highways surfacing operations.
• SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS tickets are desirable.

Surfacing Supervisor / Foreman - Highways

Location: Luton

Contract: Planned Term Maintenance

Duration: Initial 6-week contract, with potential for long-term work

Start Date: 14th September

Rate: £550 per night

Weekend Work: Available with an uplift

The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Surfacing Supervisor / Foreman to join our team working on planned term maintenance schemes across Luton.

The role will primarily involve night-time working, supervising highways surfacing operations and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

The initial contract will run for 6 weeks, starting on 14th September, with the opportunity for long-term work available for the right candidate if both parties are happy with the arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate highways surfacing gangs on site.
• Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required specification.
• Manage operatives, plant and materials on site.
• Liaise with site management, clients and other contractors where required.
• Ensure all works comply with health & safety requirements and site procedures.
• Monitor quality and progress of surfacing works.
• Assist with resolving any issues that arise during the shift.
• Complete relevant site documentation and records.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Surfacing Supervisor, Foreman or similar role.
• Strong experience within highways surfacing is essential.
• Good understanding of highways maintenance and surfacing operations.
• SMSTS/ SSSTS and CSCS
• Ability to manage and lead a surfacing team.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
• Reliable and comfortable working predominantly night shifts.
• Relevant highways/surfacing qualifications and tickets are desirable.
