Job summary

Empower Family Group in Taunton, United Kingdom is seeking a Deputy Manager for its Supported Living service. The role is permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) with a salary from £34,470.14 per annum plus an on-call rota allowance.

Based at the head office, you’ll support the Supported Living Manager in delivering a stable, therapeutic environment for young people aged 16 and over. You will work closely with the Supported Living Director, Team Manager and Support Workers to role-model

Qualifications

  • Must have a full driving license.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare is required.
  • Desirable NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Supported Living Manager in delivering a stable, structured, and therapeutic environment for young people aged 16+ in semi-independent living.
  • Lead by example to mentor staff, provide supervision, and ensure care plans are implemented with person-centred care.
  • Assist with shortfalls in coverage and support team in achieving service goals and budgets.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance, monitor staff hours and expenses, and maintain service quality.

Job Description:

Due to growth, we are recruiting for a Deputy Manager, you’ll be based within the head office to supportthe Supported Living Manager in the provision of a stable,structured, and therapeutic environment for our Supported Livingservice. You will work closely with the Supported Living Director,Team Manager and Supported Living Support Workers to ensure thatthey work closely with the children and young people accessing theservice, who they support, ensuring all team members arenurturing, listening, and encouraging. The Supported Livingservice is designed specifically to provide semi-independentliving support to young people aged 16 years and over and mayinclude Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). You willensure that the values of organization are embodied, ensuring theeffective implementation of care plans and person-centred care, aswell as taking a lead role in developing and updating the keydocuments, whilst role modelling and supporting colleagues. It isessential that you are a supportive, driven person. Who displayspatience, kindness, and leadership skills that enable you to rolemodel a passion for empowering young people to achieve their full potential.

Youwill be expected to support in covering shortfalls alongside theSupported Living Manager.

MainDuties & Responsibilities:
  • Shareand always embody the company ethos and values in your practice
  • Support the manager in practices that promote theindividuals' care plans. These should reflect their wishes andchanging needs including communication and independence skills.
  • Toprovide support and guidance on young person focused practiceslending to nurture the road to independent living, such asexploring suitable college courses, management of personalfinances, shopping, meal preparation, effective cleaning, laundry,exploring hobbies and interests to include expanding social skills etc.
  • Tosupport the service users in an appropriate professional manner inall aspects of their lives, be this personally, emotionally,physically, socially, or vocationally.
  • Tosupport people to maintain relationships with their family andfriends.
  • Tounderstand and respect things which are important to service usersand colleagues.
  • Toencourage service users to make choices and decisions forthemselves and support them to do new things in a way that keepsthem safe but does not allow concerns about safety to stop themdoing the things they want to do.
  • To beflexible in your approach and work for the benefit of the serviceusers and colleagues
  • Be agood role model for the staff team at all times.
  • Ensurethe staff team are supported, mentored, and receive the highestquality of supervision and coaching where appropriate.
  • Undertake all duties of your role with due diligenceand pride.
  • Beresponsible and accountable for the young people’s safety andwell-being at all times; ensuring that their best interests arealways promoted.
  • Assistwith supervisions.
  • Ensuring the service is compliant with Health & Safety.
  • Ensurethat budgets are kept to and monitored.
  • Ensureteam members are recording mileage and submitting timesheets andexpenses on time.
  • Takeresponsibility for ensuring that all identified tasks arecompleted in a timely and efficient manner.

This role is subjectto the successful applicant having an enhanced DBS check forchild and adult workforce with barred list checks.
