Job summary

Mencap in Askern, Doncaster is seeking compassionate Support Workers to join our team. A full UK driving licence is required to help deliver person-centred support for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs.

You will assist with daily activities, personal care, medication management and social engagement, while building trust and encouraging independence. Sleep ins are paid, and DBS checks with references are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and empathy when supporting individuals.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Experience in learning disabilities care is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities.

Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Askern, Doncaster. Please note you will need to hold a full UK driving licence for this role. As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you'll play a vital role in their life. Our service is home to individuals who require support with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties. We need Support Workers to provide the physical and emotional support that our people we support need every day. This includes assistance with personal care, medication, finances, activities and everything else to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Relationship Building

Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships.

• Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively.
• Conflict-Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
• Must be a driver and hold a UK manual driving licence.

Shift times

• Days: Shifts Between 07:00-22:00
• Must be flexible to cover weekends on a rota basis
• Sleep ins required and paid at flat rate of £64.20 per sleep
