Job description

I am seeking support workers to join my workforce, to assist me with various projects, gigs and ongoing admin tasks.

A large amount of my work consists of playing gigs, as a brass player, in bands and as a soloist (festivals, functions, session work). This fits alongside my work as a Musical Director/Composer, writing scores for original shows and co-leading theatre workshops/residencies.

My work requires a lot of travelling, particularly around the south west and occasionally abroad. Recent highlights include performing at places such as: Glastonbury, For/With/By (Madrid), Brighton Festivals.

Responsibilities:

I am looking for support workers that could assist with tasks such as:

Admin:

  1. Responding to emails using Outlook
  2. Scheduling and note taking in meetings
  3. Create project checklists/to do lists
  4. Organising and keeping record of income using excel
  5. Managing Access to Work Claims
  6. Supporting with job/funding applications/seeking development opportunities
  7. Booking travel arrangements

In Person:

  1. Supporting with transportation and set up of various equipment (including sound equipment and instruments)
  2. Assess project schedules and support with regular breaks
  3. Shop runs when on gigs and residencies
  4. Recording notes where necessary
  5. Driving my vehicle to and from gigs around the UK
  6. Managing logistics when on gigs
  7. Filming elements of gigs (you don’t have to be a pro!)

I am looking for people with previous experience of support work in creative industries.

Please note: This is a logistical role and assistants are not directly involved in creative projects other than to assist as required.

As part of my support team, you will be able to manage tasks efficiently, whilst prioritising my access needs. It is important that you are an outgoing person, with great communication skills, a good sense of humour and work ethic.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Ability to use initiative and plan effectively
  2. Familiar with Access to Work (training available)
  3. Have experience within the performing arts sector
  4. Confident using Outlook, Excel and social media platforms
  5. Hold UK driving License– (willing to drive my vehicle)
  6. Ability to lift equipment including PA systems, keyboards, drum kits

Desirable:

  1. Experience in working with casting agents/casting sites
  2. Experienced in setting up PA systems

This role is funded through Access to Work and any PA will be paid at a rate of £20 p/h. Any expenses such as travel or accommodation costs, outside the Bournemouth area, will be funded.
