Job summary

Orange Recruitment is seeking a warm, patient Support Worker for a permanent part-time role in Wenvoe, Vale of Glamorgan. The position is 7 hours per week, typically on Fridays starting at 10:00am, with driving required to support the client and transport as needed.

You will work as a professional buddy, building a positive relationship to motivate and support the client to achieve goals, engage in meaningful activities, and develop independence.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license required.
• Experience of supporting a person with brain injury.
• Willingness to register with Social Care Wales.
• Able to work Fridays and flexible for covering shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive companionship and professional buddying to client.
• Encourage engagement in meaningful activities to develop independence.
• Support client with daily living tasks and access opportunities.

Contract: Permanent

Location: Wenvoe, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan

Working pattern: 7 hours per week (typically worked on a Friday starting at 10:00am).

• Some flexibility will be required to provide occasional cover for the other support worker, as needed.

Pay: £15.65 per hour

Our client is a friendly and engaging gentleman with a good sense of humour, who sustained a brain injury 20 years ago. He lives at home with his long‑term partner, along with their two dogs and cat, and enjoys interests such as cars, science, and gaming.

We are seeking a warm, patient, and reliable individual who can take a ‘professional buddy’ approach; building a positive relationship while motivating and encouraging the client to achieve his goals. The successful candidate will be proactive and flexible, supporting him to engage in meaningful activities, develop independence, and access opportunities that enhance his overall quality of life.

A full induction and training will be provided. This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

To join me as a Support Worker you will need to: –

• Be able to drive (full UK driving license).


• Be willing and able to drive the family vehicle.


• Have experience of supporting a person with a brain injury.


• Enjoy working as part of a team.


• Be willing to register with Social Care Wales.
