Job summary

BCHA is seeking a dedicated support worker to help people rebuild their lives across Plymouth's supported housing network. You’ll provide outreach-style support, attend appointments, manage tenancy tasks, and help residents gain independent living skills.

We use trauma-informed approaches and PIE to build trust and support long-term change. Training is provided, and you’ll work with a supportive team to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Qualifications

  • Calm, resilient and able to stay grounded under pressure.
  • Empathetic and non‑judgmental.
  • A strong communicator who listens as well as speaks.
  • Organised and able to manage your own workload.
  • Motivated to help people move forward, even when progress is slow.

Responsibilities

  • Support residents with tenancy, appointments and access to services.
  • Build confidence and independent living skills.
  • Provide one-to-one support for mental health, trauma, or substance misuse.
  • Create personalised support plans and track progress.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Travel between sites in Plymouth to support residents.
