Job summary

Randstad Education in Ely is seeking adaptable Support Workers and SEN Teaching Assistants to work across specialist schools, alternative provisions, and academy trusts in Ely and East Cambridgeshire.

Choose daily supply with complete schedule flexibility or commit to longer-term placements spanning a term or full academic year, becoming a steady anchor for a class and supporting pupils with ASD, SLD, and SEMH. Comprehensive vetting and an Enhanced DBS are required.

Qualifications

• A patient, grounded, and emotionally resilient personality
• Prior experience supporting vulnerable individuals or children with additional needs
• Strong collaborative skills to work with teachers, therapists, and classroom teams
• A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to complete one immediately)

Responsibilities

• Offering dedicated 1:1 or small group guidance to learners with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and SEMH profiles.
• Helping the class teacher deliver interactive, sensory-based, and practical learning tasks aligned with individual education plans.
• Creating a reassuring, safe space by utilising positive behaviour support and calm de-escalation strategies.
• Supporting pupils in developing their personal independence, functional life skills, and everyday communication tools.

• A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one immediately).
