We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Support Worker to support a friendly 15-year-old young man with Subcortical Band Heterotopia, Epilepsy, Autism, and a Learning Disability.
This role focuses on providing social and leisure support, helping him to access activities he enjoys both at home and in the community, while promoting his independence, confidence, and wellbeing.
He has a wide range of interests, including gaming on the Xbox and Nintendo Switch, particularly Fortnite and Smash Bros. He also enjoys Mario board games, Marvel figures, dinosaurs, crazy golf and going out for drives, as the motion of the car can help him relax and regulate.
The young man benefits from routine, structure and clear communication. He can sometimes find it difficult to follow instructions, complete tasks and manage unexpected changes, so the successful applicant will need to be calm, understanding and encouraging, providing reassurance and support to help him engage in activities and enjoy positive experiences.
The young person has epilepsy, which can include tonic-clonic seizures. Full training and guidance will be provided before the role commences.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a young person's life by supporting him to access activities he enjoys, develop independence and build confidence in a safe and person-centred way.
Successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check
