Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS is essential for the role.
  • Driving License and access to own Vehicle required.
  • Experience in supported housing strongly preferred.

You will be working with a company that provides accommodation with support for 16-19-year-old looked after children and care-leavers, to enable them to live semi-independently.
Young people who use the service may have a range of support needs. These can include needing to access-

  • Education and/or employment.
  • Mental health or other health services, registering with GP, dentists and opticians
  • Programs such as Youth Prevention, Drug and Alcohol Services.
  • Applying for documents such as a passport, driving licence, bank accounts
  • Learning how to food, cook healthy meals, use utilities such as a washing machine, learning how to budget effectively
  • Emotional support

Your new role
Hours

  • 24 and 48-hour shifts
  • Day shifts
  • Sleep in nights
  • Constantly assessing the young person's support plans, health plans and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that young person's care plans are followed so young people have as much control over their future as possible
  • Assist young people to maximise their finances effectively and to develop their budgeting skills
  • Ensuring that all young person's personal records are kept up to date
  • Accurately completing the young person's daily logs
  • Attending meetings with young people and other inter-agencies
  • Add young people's appointments to the young person's noticeboard and to the computerised calendar. To inform management of important meetings
  • To give a written handover to the next staff member on shift
  • To make management aware of any new risks / concerns to/about young people or staff
  • Ensure that the fire alarms have been tested each week and recorded
  • Assisting young people to create CVs and to find employment
  • Encouraging young people to engage with education and to assist in finding relevant educational opportunities
  • Make sure the young person's medical and health needs are met by assisting with medical, dental, optician appointments.
  • Assist young people to develop menu plans, cook healthy meals and food shopping
  • To promote independent living, build confidence and self-awareness
  • To be a positive role model and be able to enforce firm but fair boundaries
  • Taking young people to family contact, meetings, reviews, appointments, interviews
  • Enable young people to engage in appropriate activities and to be creative and inspiring for young people to start new interests and hobbies
  • Communicate with relatives (where appropriate) and other professional agencies regarding the young person's health, social care and well-being.
  • Provide quality, responsive support that meets the physical and emotional needs of every young person
  • Be aware of policies & procedures and pay particular attention to safeguarding, bullying, equality and diversity and health & safety.
  • Keep professional boundaries in and outside of the work environment
  • Partake in the general upkeep of the house - gardening, light cleaning, decorating.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Enhanced DBS
  • Driving License and access to own Vehicle
  • Experience working within supported or sheltered Housing
  • Knowledge on support plans
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
