Support workers with Mental Health and brain injury experience is desirable
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our supportive Care & Support team as a Mental Health Support Worker in one of our care homes based in Leeds, Bradford or Castleford
- Full-time contract 36- 42 hours per week
- Full induction provided.
- Experience in a similar role is mandatory !
- Experience with residents with mental health and brain injury is desirable
- Day/night shifts available
- Long shifts, 12-hour shifts,so you will need to be available to work a variety of shifts across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays according to service user needs. Shift patterns are based around service user needs so our ideal candidate will be flexible. The normal working pattern is 36 hours worked over a 7 day period. These shifts can vary but generally will be between 8am and 8pm.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in a similar role is mandatory!!
- Right to work in the UK for at least one year, no sponsorship provided
- Live in the area or willing to commute/relocate
- Experience with mental health, brain injury residents is desirable
- Willingness to learn.
- You must be currently resident in the UK
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- Excellent communication skills.
- You must be friendly and well-organised with an excellent work ethic.
What will you be doing?
- You will provide face to face support to people living with mental illness to aid their recovery and tenancy management.
- You’ll support them to develop their daily living skills, emotional stability and increase confidence.
- You will encourage service users to maintain positive working relationships with family, social workers and other professionals.
- You will promote positive behaviour, with a focus on meaningful change in people's beliefs and abilities.
- Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting and assisting Residents when required with all aspects of daily living
- Assist Residents in all aspects of their care needs, e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual
- Provide supervision and attention when needed, ensuring Residents retain their comfort and dignity
- Observe care planning needs for Residents and completed daily records as instructed
- Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with Residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Centre
- Report on well-being of Residents
- Clean and maintain equipment used by Residents and Relatives e.g. wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles etc
- You will be an organised self-starter with computer experience, able to balance face to face practical work with computer based record keeping.
- You will be open and supportive to the needs of others, displaying our clear values and having an awareness of the needs of vulnerable adults and able to communicate effectively with other professionals and agencies.
- Numeracy, literacy and IT skills are essential as you will updating support plans and other important records frequently.
