Job summary

Heart of England Mencap is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for a 35-hour week in Malvern. You will help customers access the community and take part in activities like swimming, gym, farm visits, and recreation. Training is provided to support you in this role and to develop your confidence.

The role requires enthusiasm and the ability to work 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 with our clients. You may travel between sites and participate in a variety of sessions while promoting independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Previous care experience preferred.
  • Full training provided on joining.
  • Must be enthusiastic and motivated to join in activities with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 to access the community and participate in activities.
  • Support with sessions such as cooking, music, art, and sensory storytelling.

Due to organisational growth, we are looking for a Support Worker who shares our vision to join an enthusiastic team at our Day Service in Malvern. You may need to travel to our others services from time to time to support absence.

The role is for 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm .There may be opportunity to work a longer day and some Saturdays. You will support customers on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 basis to access the community and to participate in activities they enjoy this could include; swimming, gym, working at a farm, tennis and riding accessible bikes. In the centre you will support customers in a variety of sessions which may be; cooking, music, art, sensory story telling as well supporting with daily needs which will include assisting with personal care, eating and drinking and postural care. You must be enthusiastic and motivated to join in with the activities with our customers.

It is essential you attending training days at our head office is Stratford upon Avon.

We have an extensive training programme in place to ensure that staff are supported to feel confident within their role. But most of all, we offer fun and laughter throughout the day as well as being part of a fantastic and supportive team!

Some of our customers can display distressed behaviour but a full shadowing induction is given and training is provided.

Previous care experience is preferred however full training will be provided - after all, good care comes from the HEART.
