Job description

As part of our not-for-profit organisation, whatever your role, you’ll play a unique part in making a remarkable difference to the lives of thousands of people in communities across Wales.

A hands-on care role supporting individuals to live full lives in their home and community. 20 hours per week, part-time, permanent with both day and night shifts in the St Thomas area of Swansea.

In this role, you’ll be helping the people we support enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle. Their days are shaped by their interests and choices.

You’ll play a key part in enabling these experiences, creating opportunities for independence, fun, and connection.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role where no two days are the same.

The service is based in a bungalow setting, where you’ll work as part of a strong and supportive team. There is a balance of structured routines, such as attending day services, alongside more flexible, person-led activities. The role also involves providing personal care, full manual handling support, and supporting with PEG feeding, with training provided where needed. You may also have the opportunity to accompany individuals on UK holidays, helping to create memorable experiences and maintain continuity of care.

This role is ideal for someone who is caring, reliable, and physically able to support manual handling tasks. In return, you’ll be welcomed into a warm and supportive team environment where you can build meaningful relationships and develop valuable skills in complex care.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Support Worker, you’ll be involved in all aspects of day-to-day support, including:

  • Enable independence through community access, including day trips, beach walks, meals out, football, and bowling.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships, including supporting one individual with unique communication needs.
  • Provide personal care, full manual handling, and PEG feeding support (training provided).
  • Work collaboratively as part of a strong, supportive team with limited lone working.
  • Support structured routines such as day services alongside flexible, person-led activities.

Skills and Experience Needed

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.

Please ensure your application evidences experience of the following:

  • Experience working as part of a team and with people or customers

We’re looking for someone who is caring, reliable, and physically able to support manual handling, but above all, someone who is passionate about empowering others to live as independently as possible.

Due to the specific needs of the individuals we support and current legal guidance, this role is open to female applicants only.
