Job summary

Norwood is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our team, supporting adults with complex needs in a residential setting. You’ll deliver person-centred care, build trusting relationships, and help individuals live meaningful lives with dignity, choice and independence.

You’ll be part of a caring, collaborative team; duties include assisting with personal care, promoting independence, enabling hobbies and attending health appointments, with opportunities to use Makaton or other communication

Responsibilities

• Support people with their personal routines including personal care and meal preparation
• Encourage independence through life skills like budgeting, shopping and social outings
• Help people enjoy hobbies and interests: swimming, music, arts and outdoor activities
• Accompany residents to health appointments and trips out
• Work closely with our Physical Activity Practitioner, including in the hydrotherapy pool
• Contribute to household tasks and maintain a welcoming home environment
• Use a range of communication methods (Makaton, objects of reference, expressions)
• Drive the home vehicle for activities and appointments (only if you’re a driver)
