Job summary

Case Management Cymru in Cardiff is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to assist a 23-year-old with cerebral palsy. The role provides 12 hours per week of 2:1 support, including personal care, mobility and communication tasks, with opportunities to join client activities such as bowling, cinema visits and music events.

You will work as part of a small team led by the client’s family and a case manager. Driving is required, flexible hours are essential, and you must register with Social Care

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young adults who have personal care needs.
• Experience of working with people with significant communication impairments.
• Be able to drive and have use of a car, willing to drive a Motability van.
• Be able to work hours flexibly.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2:1 support across daily living, personal care, mobility and rehabilitation tasks.
• Support client to engage in activities such as bowling, cinema visits and music concerts.
• Attend therapy appointments and transport the client as required.

(Ref: 296) Support Worker – Cardiff

Contract: Permanent

Location: Cardiff

Hours per week: 12 hours weekly (to include 2 x 6 hr hour shifts)

Working Pattern

• 6 hour shifts – Day Shifts
• Wednesday & Saturday or Sunday (Flexibility essential)
• Shift Patterns: variable but after 10am in the morning

Pay per hour: £16

I am 23 years old and have complex health needs due to a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. I need 24/7 2:1 support in all areas of daily life and require lots of support on a daily basis with personal care, communication, mobility and with rehabilitation exercises. I am described by the people as having a great sense of humour and I really enjoy being around other people. By those who know me best I’m described as ‘a bit cheeky, knowing my own mind, great fun and loving’.

I am looking for enthusiastic, fun, patient and reliable support worker to help me engage in the activities I love, including bowling, the cinema and music concerts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a home with cats and should have a compassionate attitude toward animals. You would also need to take me to some therapy appointments. You will need to be calm and patient under pressure with the ability to work your hours flexibly and will be part of my amazing team which is led by my parents and case manager.

A full induction and training will be provided. This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS.
