Job summary

Swanton Care and Community in Treharris, Wales East, is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to empower the people we support with practical help and emotional encouragement, supporting daily living, health needs, and personalised plans.

You will join a compassionate team, undergo induction and training, and contribute to a positive, respectful environment; driving licence is required.

Hours are 40 per week, with opportunities for career development and access to employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting people with learning disabilities and/or complex care is preferred but training will be provided.
• Empathy, patience and a non-judgmental approach to care.
• Commitment to safeguarding and respecting Dignity of the people we support.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations.
• Promote health, well-being and inclusive beliefs in line with individual support plans.
• Facilitate social, educational or work activities such as visiting family, walks, shopping and other recreational activities.
• Carry out general housekeeping duties and personal care as required.
• Complete a range of records and documents to reflect progress and needs.
• Hold a valid UK driving licence is essential for the role.

About The Role

We're looking for people who care about making ever moment matter for the people we support in our supported living care services based in Treharris, Wales East.

The role of the Support Worker/Carer is an opportunity for a pro-active person to join an evolving Care Company. We are looking for dedicated and empathetic people. The support team will provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations.

The team will be inducted and trained to support people within our residential home. The people we support require support around their daily living skills, health needs and will have a range of physical and/or learning disabilities.

We require a Support Team who is empathetic and non-judgmental, someone who has experience in behaviour that can be challenging.

About you

Are you enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to supporting people in a way which respects their dignity?

Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and/or complex care is preferred but all training will be provided.

The role

• To provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans.
• Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people we support and ensure they are met in an inclusive way.
• Facilitating social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice.
• General housekeeping duties that can include shopping, domestic duties as well as, possibly, elements of personal care.
• As part of the role, you will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents.
• In order to undertake this role, it is essential that you hold a valid UK driving licence.
