Discovery is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist adults with complex needs in a residential setting. You will help with daily living, personal care and medications, while promoting independence and choice.
The role emphasises empathy, reliability and building trusting relationships with residents and their families. Join a supportive team with extensive training, career progression opportunities and a commitment to inclusive, person-centred care.
At Hillcrest, you'll be supporting three gentlemen in their 40s to 60s who have autism, moderate learning disabilities and dementia to live fulfilling lives on their own terms. Working as part of a caring and dedicated team, you'll provide person-centred support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, medication and maintaining a comfortable, welcoming home environment. Most importantly, you'll take the time to build meaningful relationships, understand what matters to each person, and support them to make choices about how they spend their day. The gentlemen at Hillcrest enjoy leading active lives and love getting out and about. Whether it's a trip to the football, swimming sessions, bowling, visits to the seaside, cinema outings, walks around Nine Springs Country Park or enjoying local discos, you'll play a key role in helping them stay connected to the activities they love. Shifts Include - 7am - 2:30pm / 2:30pm - 10pm, alternate weekends and Sleep Ins.
To thrive as a Support Worker in this home, you will be someone who is compassionate, reliable, and genuinely motivated to make a positive difference in people's lives. You don't need previous experience in social care, but you do need the right values, the willingness to learn, and the confidence to support individuals to live the life they choose. You'll bring strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with the people you support, their families, and your colleagues. A good Support Worker here is patient, calm under pressure, and able to adapt to different situations with empathy and professionalism. You'll also be proactive, observant, and comfortable encouraging people to develop their independence and try new things. Basic IT skills are important, as you'll use digital systems for recording notes, completing training, and staying connected as part of the team. You'll show a commitment to your own learning and development, embracing the training we provide to ensure you feel confident and equipped in your role. Most importantly, you'll be someone who brings positivity, kindness, and respect to every interaction, helping create a safe, supportive, and happy environment for the people who live here.
At Discovery, we support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. Join a friendly, dedicated team where people are at the heart of everything we do, and enjoy excellent training, development and benefits. There's no typical Support Worker here-our teams come from all backgrounds, united by a shared desire to help people live well, learn new skills and gain independence. You'll make a real difference every day, creating meaningful moments and supporting choice.
