Job summary

Cera Care is hiring Support Workers in the Southend area to help people with mental health conditions and substance misuse. Training will be provided, and weekend shifts may be required. You may support individuals in crisis and in need of de-escalation, with opportunities to pursue NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Care.

We value compassion, resilience, and collaboration with healthcare and social services to ensure comprehensive support for those in our care.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable supporting people with challenging behaviour; training will be provided.
  • No experience required; full training given.
  • Must have weekend availability and flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and promote positive behaviour; identify triggers to prevent escalations.
  • Handle emergencies and crises using de-escalation techniques.
  • Be aware of diverse cultural backgrounds and co-occurring disorders affecting mental health and substance misuse.
  • Remain resilient and manage stress and emotional demands of the role.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social services and community organisations to ensure access to support services.

Job Description

We're looking for Support Workers in the Souhtend area. As a Mental Health Support Worker with Cera you will be playing a fundamental part in improving the lives of people with mental health conditions and a history of substance misuse. You will need to be comfortable supporting people who may at times present with challenging behaviour, training will be given. The role may include elements of personal care.

Are you prepared to support people in crisis, and to de-escalate sensitive situations?

Can you help people to make a positive change to their lives?

Can you communicate effectively and use active listening skills to understand people's needs?

Role highlights:

  • Shift patterns consist of Various block shifts between 07.00 and 22.00. Must have weekend availability (every other)
  • We can only consider drivers
  • Opportunity to complete either NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Care (through work-based learning) and further progression opportunities

More about the role:

  • In this role you will need to be able to communicate and promote positive behaviour, identifying triggers in order to prevent escalations of stressful situations.
  • You must also be prepared to handle emergencies and crisis situations, using de-escalatation techniques to diffuse situations.
  • You will have an awareness of and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds and the co-occuring disorders and the how they can influence menal health and substance misuse issues.
  • You will be resilient and able to manage stress and the emotional demands of the role.
  • You should have the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, social services and community organisations to ensure the people you support get access to a full range of support services.
