Job summary

Abbeycare Ltd in Sheffield is seeking caring Support Workers to help individuals live healthy, independent lives. Roles are available as part time and full time, with 24–42 hours per week, across the Sheffield area.

You will assist with daily activities, personal care, medication, budgeting, shopping, appointments, and social engagement to enhance wellbeing and inclusion. DBS check provided; comprehensive training offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a support setting.
  • Knowledge of person-centred care principles.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals to live independently and participate in daily activities.
  • Administer medication following protocols and on time.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and accessible home environment.
  • Promote healthy relationships with family, friends and community.
  • Provide practical and emotional support for day-to-day activities and appointments.
  • Assist individuals in accessing community resources and social activities.
  • Occasionally accompany individuals outside the home for hospital visits or appointments.
  • Respect personal preferences and promote independence.
  • Regularly report to the Service Manager on progress and care plans.

About The Role

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting individuals to live healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives.

Role Type

Part Time and Full Time positions available.
Hours: 24-42 hours (We request that you are able to work a minimum of 24 hours per week).
Shift Patterns: Vary - Please discuss on interview.
Location: Across the Sheffield area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting individuals to live independently: Assist individuals in maintaining their independence by encouraging and supporting them in daily activities such as meal preparation, budgeting, and personal care.
  • Administering medication: Follow medication protocols, ensuring medication is administered accurately and on time.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and accessible home: Assist individuals in keeping their home environment tidy and organised.
  • Promoting healthy relationships: Encourage and support positive relationships with family, friends, and the wider community.
  • Supporting with day-to-day activities: Provide practical and emotional support for individuals in areas such as shopping, appointments, social activities, and hobbies.
  • Accessing the community: Assist individuals in accessing community resources and activities to enhance their social inclusion and well-being.
  • Supporting outside the home setting: On occasion, you may be required to accompany individuals outside of their home for activities such as hospital visits, holidays, or attending appointments at police stations.
  • Promoting independence and individuality: Ensure each individual is supported in a way that respects their personal preferences, choices, and promotes their independence.
  • Report to the Service Manager: Regularly report on the progress of the individuals you support and ensure their care plans are followed.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact well with individuals with diverse needs.
  • Experience in a support setting

  • Alternative weekend availability
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
