Job description

Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour.

Shifts:7am - 2:30pm , 2:30pm - 10pm, 10pm - 7am. Weekend work included.

Job Description

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

Our teams provide care and support for individuals with different conditions at Priory sites all across the UK.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support. Not only is full training provided, but there are numerous career pathways available to you, including our Nurse Apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Encouragement to participate in social and recreational activities

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential

Additional Information

Southport Services covers residential support for people across three homes, located in York Road, Arbour Street & Dinorwic Road.

York Road is located in the village of Birkdale in Southport, Merseyside. It offers residential support for five males and females who have a learning disability or are on the autism spectrum. Our team are dedicated to providing the people we care for with the skills needed to live a healthier and happier life back in the community. We can also support those who havemental health needs, difficulties with communication, and mild to moderate behaviour that may challenge

Dinorwic Road is located in the village of Birkdale in Southport, Merseyside. It offers residential support for three people with a primary learning disability diagnosis, who may also have mental health needs. We are located on a quiet road, surrounded by beautiful countryside. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where everyone we care for can make their own choices about the care and support they receive. We want to help provide residents with the skills they need to live a healthier and happier life back in the community.

Arbour Street is a semi-detached Victorian house, located on a quiet road, very close to Southport city centre. It offers residential support for three adults with a learning disability, who may also be on the autism spectrum. Our team are dedicated to helping people to develop the skills necessary for a future where they can live as independently as possible.

Disclosure

All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland, and the cost of this will be covered by Priory.
