Discovery is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for Northmead House, a busy short-break service supporting around 30 people aged 18 to 70. You’ll assist with daily living, personal care, mobility, and activities, adapting quickly to changing plans and ensuring each stay is positive and safe.

No prior experience required; a patient, kind attitude and reliability matter most. We offer flexible shifts, training, and strong benefits as part of a supportive team at Discovery.

As a Support Worker at Northmead House, you'll help people enjoy positive, memorable short breaks in a welcoming and supportive environment. Northmead House is a busy short-break service supporting around 30 people overall, aged 18 to 70 with a wide range of support needs.
Because we provide short-break support, you'll meet and support a variety of different people each week, and plans can change quickly as we sometimes welcome people at short notice. You'll need to be adaptable, compassionate, and ready to make every stay a positive experience.
You'll provide support with daily living, including personal care, moving and assisting people who use wheelchairs and hoists, and helping to keep the service running smoothly.
Most importantly, you'll help people enjoy their time with us. You could be getting hands-on with arts and crafts projects, the next embarking on an exciting trip to the zoo or carnival, catching a film at the cinema, or enjoying a friendly game of bowling. It's a fun, varied role where you'll make a real difference while creating lasting memories for the people you support.
Shifts include a mixture of earlies (7am - 2pm), lates (2pm - 10pm) , long days and alternate weekends, and sleep ins., As Disability Confident Leaders , we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy - Discovery has been awarded this symbol by Jobcentre Plus to recognise our commitment towards the employment, retention, training and career development of disabled employees
