Job summary

Our teams provide individualised care and support for people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and people with physical disabilities living in their community. We recognise that each person has unique interests, needs, and preferences, and we support customers to be as self-sufficient as possible, working closely with them and their support networks to help them reach their goals.

We are recruiting to replace valued colleagues and expand our teams to support more people. Vacancies are available in the following locations:

  • Park House (SL6 1EU) - full-time | days w/ sleep-ins
  • Tithe Barn (SL6 2DE) - full- and part-time | days and nights
  • Brill House (SL6 3DU) - full-time | days
  • Court House (SL6 6HF) - full- and part-time | days w/ sleep-ins
  • Float Support (community-based) - full-time | days
  • Winston Court (SL6 5HU) - full- and part-time | days and nights
  • Allenby Respite (SL6 5BF) - part-time | days

Some roles require candidates to have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Main duties include supporting customers with daily activities such as personal care, medication management, meal prep, shopping, and emotional and physical wellbeing. Night roles also involve building security, cleaning, and preparing the service for the next day.

Support also extends to life skills like confidence building, financial management, and community engagement to maintain relationships.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing care and support according to care plans
  • Ensuring safety and wellbeing
  • Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
  • Supporting meal preparation
  • Facilitating community access (appointments, shopping, socialising)
  • Record keeping
  • Reporting health and behaviour changes
  • Communicating with residents, families, colleagues, and professionals

Full training, including a 7-day induction at our Head Office in Wokingham, online learning, and shadowing, will be provided.

Job description

Supporting the overall running of the service, ensuring CQC compliance, and providing safe, person-centred support respecting all human rights within the Independent Living Services.

This involves supporting residents with daily routines to enable them to live fulfilling lives, collaborating with families, carers, and professionals to deliver coordinated care, documenting work, and contributing to reviews.

Person Specification

Experience (Desirable):

  • Working with people with learning disabilities
  • In a residential care setting

Qualifications (Essential):

  • Willingness to undertake Care Certificate

(Desirable):

  • Full UK Driving Licence and own vehicle

Other (Essential):

  • Valid right to work in the UK; visas with at least 6 months remaining
  • Good understanding of IT and smartphone tech
