Position: Support Worker - Alternative Provision
Location: Lancaster, Lancashire
Contract: Supply/Temporary
Salary: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience
About the Role
As a Support Worker within an Alternative Provision setting, you will play a vital role in helping students aged 5-16 overcome barriers to learning, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with diverse needs
Assisting in the development and implementation of personalised education plans
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Supporting students during lessons, activities, and transitions
Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with:
Experience in supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviours
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
Strong communication and team-working skills
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or Social Care) are desirable but not essential
