Job summary

Mencap is seeking a dedicated Support Worker in Hatfield Woodhouse to assist people with learning disabilities in a complex service. You will help with daily tasks, personal care and activities, supporting independence and wellbeing.

Role requires flexibility across days, evenings and weekends, with occasional sleep-ins. A UK driving licence is essential; DBS checks and references are required. This is a permanent, full-time role offering meaningful and rewarding work.

Summary

Join Mencap as a Support Worker in Hatfield Woodhouse!

We're looking for caring, committed individuals to support people with learning disabilities within our one of our complex services. You'll help with daily tasks, personal care, medication, and activities-making a real difference every day.

You must hold a UK driving licence.

Qualities and Skills Required:
  • Relationship Building: Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships.
  • Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively.
  • Conflict-Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • UK driving licence required.
What we're looking for:
  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
  • People who enjoy interactivity with the people we support.
Contract options:
  • 37.5 hours
  • Various part time hours available
Shifts:
  • Days: Varied shifts between 07:00-22:00 (rota basis, must be flexible to do sleep ins)
  • Waking Nights - 22:00-08:00
  • Sleep ins required on days and paid at a flat rate of £64.20
  • Must be flexible to cover weekends on a rota basis
  • All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references
