Looking for a new challenge?

Sense islooking for Support Workersto join our service inExeter, working 37.5 hours per week for £12.50 per hour.

This is a challenging role, but incredibly rewarding. You will be part of an award winning team, providing outstanding care and support. We will support you both personally and professionally to develop the skills / knowledge and experience to support individuals who have learning disabilities, sensory impairments and may display behaviours of concern. Each person we support has a unique way of communicating and understanding the world around them. We support a range of complex health needs within the service, there are moving and handling needs for some we support due to physical disabilities.

The people we support are unique in their needs / wants and wishes and you will have fun supporting them in their various interests from sports activities and events, musicals, opera’s and festivals, celebrating special events and connecting with the local and wider community, as well as engaging people in meaningful activities within their own home.

This role operates on a rolling 4 week rota, with day and afternoon shifts that include every other weekend.

We’re looking for enthusiastic applicants who are:
  • Positive, with a can-do attitude.
  • Caring and empathetic.
  • Passionate about enhancing other people’s lives.
  • Willing to work towards a Level 2 Diploma in health and social care or equivalent (or already have one).
  • Have some experience with adults with learning disabilities, deafblindness and behaviours that challenge.
  • May have some BSL skills.
  • A full UK Driver’s License is desirable for this role.

No two days will be the same

In addition to the support you will receive from the management team, we have a ‘Buddy Scheme’ where we will match a team member to you, so you will also have peer support whilst you get to know the individuals, team and service. You will also have access to training and professionally qualifications to underpin your practice and development.

This role in Exetermight include supporting people with:
  • Everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning.
  • Personal care and hygiene.
  • Finances.
  • Medication and wellbeing.
  • Going into the community for shopping or other trips.
  • Their social life and nightlife.
  • Everyone we support is an individual, so their care is as unique as they are. You can see a more detailed description of duties in the job description attached at the bottom of this advert.
