Job summary

CareTech is recruiting a Support Worker for Chaucer Road in Bedford to assist adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. You will deliver person-centred support, help with daily living tasks, maintain records and work as part of a friendly team on a rota including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins. No experience?

Full training and a structured induction are provided. You will need to be reliable, patient and compassionate with good communication skills, and willing to work

Qualifications

• Willingness to work towards Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis.
• Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech).

About the Service - Chaucer Road

Chaucer Road is for 8 Adults with Learning Disability, Physical disability, Epilepsy and Adults on the Spectrum. Person centred care is very important to us at Ashview House. As a team, we focus on the abilities of the people we support and promote learning of new skills, thereby promoting independence and an improved quality of life. We have an open culture where staff feel safe to challenge bad practise, learn from mistakes, share knowledge and lessons learnt. The people we support are involved in the day-to-day running of their home.

You will be working alone and as part of a team supporting people with various needs, such as Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

You will have a person-centred approach to supporting people with their day-to-day living in order to provide a caring, safe and effective service that is responsive to the needs of the people we support. This will include providing support with household tasks, meal planning and preparation, maintaining relationships with their family and friends and with accessing the community.

Service User Interests

• Days out such as Theme Parks, Meals out, Social activities, Christmas markets etc.

• Walks in the local park and community
• Cooking and baking to develop life skills

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.

No previous experience? No problem! If you have the passion, we’ll provide full training and a structured induction programme.
