Job summary

CareTech is recruiting Support Workers for Copperplate in Chatham, Kent, to support adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. The role is 37.5 hours per week on a rota and includes evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

Full training and a structured induction are provided, with ongoing career progression opportunities and a supportive on-site team. You will help with daily living tasks, community access and maintaining relationships with families.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and respectful with strong communication.
• Willingness to complete Level 2 Health and Social Care.
• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota.
• No visa restrictions or sponsorship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred support in line with individual support plans.
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required.
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
• Support activities, appointments, and community access.
• Maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team.

About the Service – Copperplate

This is a brand-New Supported Living Service based which is due to open November 2026. The staff team will be on site 24 hours a day, to fully support 10 individuals.

You will be working alone and as part of a team supporting people with various needs, such as Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

You will have a person-centred approach to supporting people with their day-to-day living in order to provide a caring, safe and effective service that is responsive to the needs of the people we support. This will include providing support with household tasks, meal planning and preparation, maintaining relationships with their family and friends and with accessing the community.

Service User Interests

• Arts and crafts
• Days out such as Theme Parks, Meals out, Social activities, Christmas markets etc.
• Holidays and short breaks
• Walks in the local park and community
• Cooking and baking to develop life skills

The Role

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.

No previous experience? No problem! If you have the passion, we’ll provide full training and a structured induction programme.

Requirements

• Willingness to work towards Level 2 in Health and Social Care
• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis
• Drivers desirable but not essential
• Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech)
