This important role involves providing practical and emotional support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities. Your work will help clients maintain their independence, improve their well-being, and enjoy a better quality of life.

As a Support Worker, your main duty will be to assist people with practical and emotional support. You will play a vital role in promoting independence, dignity, and well-being, helping students to overcome daily challenges and maintain a fulfilling lifestyle. This involves supporting them with personal care, household tasks, social engagement, and access to community resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical and emotional support to students with additional needs during lessons and throughout the school day.
  • Assist students in developing social skills, managing behaviour, and engaging positively in learning activities.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress, behaviour, and any concerns, reporting these promptly to teachers and school leadership.
  • Promote positive behaviour management techniques and help students develop self-regulation skills.

Requirements of the role:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar educational setting is preferred.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning, development, and well-being.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach to working with children with diverse needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
  • Basic knowledge of educational practices and the ability to assist with classroom activities.
