Job summary

Apax is a non-profit social enterprise delivering mental health services. We are seeking an experienced Support Services Manager to deputise for the Support Services Leader, overseeing daily operations and ensuring high-quality care and compliance.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) on a fixed-term basis for one year, based in the UK. You will lead a team, manage incidents, and collaborate with statutory agencies to support disadvantaged individuals.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years’ experience managing support staff, incidents and difficult situations with resilience.
  • Excellent knowledge of mental health-related illnesses, challenging behaviours, complex needs.
  • Understanding of housing-related support services and tenancy sustainment.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Support Services Manager to deputise for the Support Services Leader who heads the Support Services Department. This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours/week, on a fixed-term basis for one year.

Key Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or vocational qualification in health and social care or a related discipline.

  • At least 5 years’ experience managing support staff, incidents and difficult situations with resilience within a high supported mental health environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of mental health-related illnesses, challenging behaviours, complex needs, substance misuse and trauma-informed practice.

  • Understanding of the role of statutory agencies involved in mental health.

  • Knowledge of equality, diversity, safeguarding, quality assurance and compliance.

  • Excellent knowledge of support planning and risk assessing client needs.

  • At least 5 years’ experience working with individuals experiencing mental ill-health, substance misuse, complex needs or social exclusion.

  • Understanding of housing-related support services and tenancy sustainment.

  • Strong computer skills and digital dexterity.

  • Experience in using Customer Relationship Management systems and databases.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate appropriately with people at all levels and capacities.

  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative to find solutions.

  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload.

  • Warm and friendly demeanour with a positive and open-minded attitude.

  • Thirst for knowledge, strive for excellence, and a humble posture of learning.
