Job summary

Cornerstone in Dunfermline is seeking a part-time care/support worker for a 16-hour week. You will provide one-to-one support to a young man in his own home, helping with daily living, meals, household tasks and medication.

Join a dedicated team; full training is provided, with opportunities to develop through the SSSC/SVQ pathway. A driving licence is preferred as there is community involvement and outings.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care or support role is desirable.
• Full training on an individual support plan provided.
• Commitment to join the SVQ/SSSC pathway with employer support.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support with day-to-day living.
• Assist with meal planning, cooking and household tasks, including medication support.
• Encourage and enable participation in community activities and interests.

Our amazing #TeamFod in Dunfermline are looking for a new colleague to complete their team on a part-time (16 hours per week), permanent basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity where you’ll build a meaningful relationship with one individual, providing consistent support that has a real impact on his independence, confidence and quality of life.

Shift patterns

This 16 hour post is usually worked as one 24-hour shift per week from 1100-1100 hours (includes a sleepover). Week days, weekends and public holidays would be worked on a rotational basis.
The sleepover element isn’t included in your contracted hours, and you will receive an additional £107.60 for every sleepover you work.

Meet the person you’ll support

You’ll be supporting a fun-loving young man with a fantastic, slap-stick sense of humour in his own home. As part of our small, dedicated team, you’ll provide one-to-one support, helping him with day-to-day living, including meal planning, cooking, household tasks and medication.
Just as importantly, you’ll support him to enjoy the things that matter most to him. He has an active social life and loves getting out into his local community. Whether it’s motorsports, plane spotting, going to the cinema, enjoying walks or heading off on day trips or stays in his caravan, there’s never a dull moment.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is calm under pressure, dependable and committed to providing high-quality support. Someone who can build trust, work confidently on their own and remain positive when faced with challenges.
Experience in a care or support role is desirable, particularly if you’ve supported people whose behaviours can sometimes be challenging. However, you’ll receive full training on an individual support plan and be backed by an experienced and supportive team.

You’ll need to be:

It would be great if you also have a full, clean UK driving licence, as this gentleman has his own mobility vehicle and enjoys getting out and about.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.
