Job description

Make your next move one that counts.
Whether you’re taking your first steps into a new career or looking for a fresh start, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! Join our team in Bishopbriggs and enjoy a permanent, part-time role working 20 hours per week, where every day brings the chance to make a positive difference in someone’s life.

Our team and the people we support

You will join a dedicated team of Support Practitioners providing support to 4 individuals who have learning disabilities and other complex support needs, including physical disabilities. The people we support have many interests such as enjoying new experiences, living life to the full, going on holiday, cooking, socialising and meeting new friends.

They will give anything a go including going to concerts, singing along to Abba, and going out for meals - no two days are ever the same.

The most important thing is the type of person you are - ideally you are someone who wants to make a positive difference in the people we support lives.

About you

Experience working within support is preferred but is not essential! We'll train you, pay you and support you every step of the way. You'll even gain funded, recognised qualifications as you work.

We want people who are: -

  • Kind, positive and up for a challenge
  • Great team players
  • Willing to learn and try new things
  • Ready to make a difference
  • Confident using computers and tablets

Situated near Bishopbriggs cross, the service is within easy access by public transport with excellent rail and bus links from the city centre.

Why you'll love it here
  • You’ll have a meaningful job doing things that you enjoy - it often doesn't feel like work
  • No uniform - we wear our own casual clothes
  • We fund up to £500 towards driving lessons
  • We reimburse your SSSC registration and PVG fees
  • Access to professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Recommend a colleague bonus scheme
  • Long service awards
  • Access to a 24/7 independent employee assistance helpline
  • 26 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years) plus 4 paid bank holidays
  • Family friendly leave options, including family, parental, bereavement and special leave
  • Access to lots of discounts, including the cinema, gym memberships, holidays and shopping
Shift Patterns

To ensure the people we support receive consistent, high-quality care and support, shifts will generally include early shifts and back shifts, with weekends, public holidays, waking nights and sleepovers worked on a rotational basis. Shift patterns may vary depending on the needs of the service.

Sleepovers are paid separately from your contracted hours, with an additional payment of £107.60 for every sleepover worked – giving you the opportunity to earn a little extra alongside your contracted hours.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.

If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.

Please note - If you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany. Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.
