Job summary

The Edinburgh Academy Junior School is seeking an enthusiastic Support for Learning Teacher to work with pupils in Primary 5 and 6, alongside classroom teachers to enhance learning opportunities.

The successful candidate will support all children through targeted teaching, collaboration with staff, and ongoing professional development in line with current inclusion principles. A nurturing, inclusive learning environment is central to the role, with involvement in the co-curricular programme.

Qualifications

• GTCS registration or ability to be; essential.

• Experience in assessing and tracking pupil progress.
• Experience in target setting and adapting learning programmes.

Responsibilities

• Consult with Head of Department and Class Teachers to identify pupils needing additional support.
• Plan, prepare and teach targeted lessons or provide differentiated materials.
• Collaborate with class teacher in classroom or with smaller groups in a Support for Learning base.
• Assess, monitor, record and report on pupil progress to Head, Teachers and parents.
• Compile Support for Learning profiles for individual children.
• Liaise with external agencies and implement plans or recommendations.
• Advise on additional support materials for ASD and EAL pupils.
• Foster good relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Attend staff meetings and professional learning sessions.
• Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional learning and current legislation.
• Perform a twenty-minute break duty weekly.
• Eat with and supervise a group of children at lunch.
• Commit to the co-curricular programme.
• Carry out any reasonable additions to this list as deemed necessary by the Headteacher.
