Job summary

The Edinburgh Academy Junior School is seeking an enthusiastic Support for Learning Teacher to join our teaching team. You will work alongside Class Teachers to identify pupils needing additional support and to deliver targeted, differentiated lessons primarily with Primary 5 and 6 students.

Qualifications

• GTCS registration or eligibility is essential.
• Commitment to inclusive education and meeting diverse pupil needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are required.

• Pastoral care and creating a nurturing learning environment.
• Experience in assessing and tracking pupil progress.
• Experience in adapting learning programmes for diverse needs.
• Strong communication with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Consult with Head of Department and Class Teachers to identify pupils needing support.
• Plan, prepare and teach targeted lessons for identified pupils or differentiate based on plans.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher in the classroom and with smaller groups.
• Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress to staff and parents.
• Compile Support for Learning profiles for individual children.
• Liaise with external agencies and implement plans as appropriate.
• Advise on materials and strategies for children with learning differences (ASD).
• Foster good relationships with pupils and colleagues and participate in meetings.
