NORTH YORKSHIRE CENTRE FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING is seeking a Support Assistant to help a gentleman in Harrogate with domestic duties, meal preparation, and community access. The role involves light housework such as bed-making, laundry, and ironing, plus accompanying social activities by train to places like Leeds and Ripon.

The ideal candidate will have experience with additional needs and live locally to Harrogate. Some evenings may be required, and there is a pension option if over 21.

Job description

A Support Assistant is required for a gentleman in his 20’s who lives independently in Harrogate. The young man has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism, he does not require personal care but support with domestic duties, cooking balanced meals and accessing the community. He enjoys travel and going to places such as Leeds, Ripon etc by train, going to the cinema.

There are initially 16 hours per week available possibly rising to 22 hours. These hours can be taken over 2 full days or shorter shift hours over more days, to be negotiated at interview level. Some occasional evening would be required depending on activity.

The rate of pay is £13.79 per hour.

The ideal candidate would live locally to the Harrogate area, have similar interest in music, films & history as the young man.

If the successful applicant is over the age of 21, there is an option of a pension scheme.
