This is a unique Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) role within Rolls Royce Submarines business, acting as the face of Quality Assurance across the submarine supply chain. This exciting role will give you experience in Quality Assurance activities within the submarines nuclear sector.

Supply Quality Engineers (SQE) within the Performance and Improvement Function in the Submarines business are responsible for product and documentation verification and final product release from Rolls-Royce's Manufacturing Units and external supply chain. This role may involve significant travel (mostly domestic) and overnight stays of up to 4-5 days a week.

You will collaborate with Design Authority, Manufacturing Engineers, Supply Chain Planners, and Buyers to ensure manufacturing meets product and purchase order requirements. The SQE will also interact with customers during the role execution.

Working in the quality function, you will act as Quality Assurance for Rolls-Royce Submarines. We provide a caring, inclusive, and innovative environment with opportunities for career growth and making a difference.

You will be provided a Job Need car and travel expenses. You will learn standards across the nuclear business and work with a wide supply chain across the UK and abroad.

What you will be doing

As the Supplier Quality Engineer, you will operate as the Rolls-Royce Submarines Independent Acceptance Authority, ensuring contractual, customer, and regulatory requirements are satisfied. Responsibilities include:

  • Operating as an Independent Acceptance Authority for all products and services supplied by Rolls-Royce Submarines.
  • Performing surveillance on materials during manufacture and upon completion.
  • Identifying and acting on non-conformances by implementing Rolls-Royce processes.
  • Representing the Quality Division at pre-contract reviews to ensure understanding of purchase order requirements.
  • Planning surveillance based on risk and previous performance data.
  • Escalating issues with suppliers not meeting quality expectations.
  • Contributing to improvement activities and coaching staff on quality requirements.
Who we're looking for

We value safety, integrity, simplicity, and collaboration. To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in the Nuclear Industry is preferred, but candidates from Aerospace, Automotive, Rail, Oil and Gas, or other regulated industries will be considered.
  • Experience with Submarines processes, products, or documentation is preferred, but experience with various manufacturing processes is also valuable.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and root cause analysis is advantageous but not essential.
  • A degree in Engineering or equivalent (ONC, HNC with significant quality experience).
  • UK Driving Licence.
