Job description

Supply Planning Manager, Technology Materials Planning

Job ID: 10589435 | Amazon UK Services Ltd.

Amazon's technology supply chain supports a complex and rapidly evolving portfolio of infrastructure, end-user equipment, and technology products across thousands of locations globally. As the business scales, disciplined and responsive supply planning is critical to ensuring material availability, managing inventory investment, optimizing procurement execution, enabling network efficiency, and delivering predictable outcomes for customers.

We are seeking a Manager, Supply Planning to lead the supply planning capability within Supply Chain Planning. This leader will manage a team responsible for developing and continuously improving supply plans across the existing customer business segments, while establishing scalable mechanisms that can support new businesses, products, and fulfillment models.

The successful candidate will build a supply planning organization that combines strong planning fundamentals with data, technology, and automation. This includes improving material requirement plan quality, integrating demand signals with supply constraints and lead times, optimizing network topology through hub-and-spoke and regional distribution strategies, identifying structural sources of supply risk and excess inventory, and partnering with Product, Data, Analytics, and Technology teams to reduce manual planning activity and enable increasingly intelligent supply planning capabilities.

The ideal candidate combines strong supply chain expertise, analytical depth, customer orientation, business judgment, and people leadership. They must be comfortable challenging assumptions, navigating incomplete or conflicting signals, and influencing stakeholders across Supply Chain, Finance, Technology, Operations, Procurement, and customer organizations.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for supply planning across Launch, KTLO, and Programs.
  • Own the end-to-end supply planning mechanism, including material requirement plan (MRP) creation and execution, order management, inventory performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate demand plans, supply constraints, lead times, funding availability, and inventory positions into executable material requirement plans at the appropriate product, geographic, and time horizons.
  • Establish clear accountability for supply inputs and challenge assumptions, overrides, and changes that are not supported by measurable business signals or supply data.
  • Define and improve supply availability, inventory health, Days of Cover, excess and obsolescence, order accuracy, and other metrics that distinguish true supply variability from process, data, and system defects.
  • Lead capacity planning efforts to ensure supplier and network capacity aligns with demand forecasts, proactively identifying and mitigating capacity constraints across the planning horizon.
  • Design and optimize hub-and-spoke distribution and network topology strategies to improve fulfillment speed, reduce transportation costs, and support regional inventory positioning across global sites.
  • Partner with Demand Planning and Enterprise S&OP to incorporate demand uncertainty, quantify supply risks, and support scenario and trade-off decisions.
  • Develop segmented planning approaches appropriate for different supply patterns, including new site launches, steady-state replenishment, and program-driven procurement, incorporating network optimization principles to determine optimal stocking locations and replenishment flows.
  • Partner with Product, Data, Analytics, and Technology teams to automate material requirement plan generation, order validation, exception management, and planner workflows.
  • Advance the use of optimization models, machine learning, and AI to improve supply plan quality and reduce dependence on manual reconciliation and judgment.
  • Simplify fragmented supply processes and data sources, with a long‑term goal of connecting Planning more directly to real‑time inventory positions, supplier capacity, network capacity utilization, and procurement execution.
  • Build scalable mechanisms that support new products, businesses, regions, and planning paradigms without creating parallel planning processes.
  • Communicate supply outlook, inventory risks, capacity constraints, network optimization opportunities, funding gaps, procurement constraints, and recommended actions clearly to senior stakeholders.
A day in the life

In this role, you may begin the day reviewing inventory positions and open order status with your team, determining whether a supply gap reflects a true constraint or a defect in the underlying data or process. You may evaluate hub capacity utilization and assess whether regional inventory positioning is aligned with current demand patterns.

You may work with Demand Planning to understand the implications of a forecast change on the material requirement plan, partner with Procurement to resolve a supplier lead time or capacity issue, or support Enterprise S&OP with scenarios where supply constraints, network bottlenecks, or funding gaps require a broader business decision.

You may also spend time with Product or Technology teams improving how material requirement plans are generated, automating a repetitive planner workflow, optimizing network flows across hub-and-spoke distribution points, or defining how optimization models and AI can augment planner judgment.

The role balances near‑term supply performance with the longer‑term objective of creating a scalable, technology‑enabled supply planning capability where planners spend less time collecting and reconciling information and more time managing supply risk, optimizing network and inventory investment, and improving the quality of the plan.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non‑tech teams
  • Experience in team management
  • Experience in cross functional project delivery
  • Experience in program or project management
  • Experience in supply chain
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
