Job summary

McLaren is seeking a dedicated Supplier Quality Engineer to join the Supplier Quality team for the high-profile platform. You will be the primary Supplier Quality representative for Electric Propulsion and High Voltage Systems across the program, bridging Program Management, Powertrain Engineering and Tier-1 suppliers.

You will drive APQP/PPAP, ensure DfM and PFMEA, lead 8D investigations, and perform on-site audits to verify processes and ERP readiness before Job 1.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Supplier Quality Engineerwithin the Supplier Quality team, dedicated to the high-profile platform.In this critical role, you will act as the primary Supplier Qualityrepresentative for all Electric Propulsion and High Voltage Systemsassociated with the program.

You will bridge the gap between Program Management,Powertrain Engineering, and key Tier-1 electrification suppliers. Your focuswill be ensuring that all HV components-from traction batteries andsilicon-carbide inverters to electric motors and power distribution units-meetstringent standards for power density, safety, reliability, and manufacturingquality ahead of production gateways.

Key Responsibilities

• ProgramGateways: Drive Supplier Quality deliverables (APQP, PPAP, and launchreadiness) specifically tailored to the program milestones from conceptphase to Job 1.
• CommodityOversight: Lead supplier quality assurance for High Voltage systems,including HV Battery Packs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Inverters,Electric Drive Units (EDUs), On-Board Chargers (OBC), and DC-DCConverters.
• SupplierAdvanced Quality Management: Partner with high-voltage Tier-1suppliers to ensure robust Design for Manufacture (DfM), Process FMEAs(PFMEA), Control Plans, and functional end-of-line (EOL) testingprotocols.
• HVSafety & Compliance: Ensure all incoming components meet globalsafety standards (e.g., ISO 26262 functional safety, ECE R100 electricsafety, UN38.3 transport compliance) and McLaren's internal HV validationrequirements.
• RootCause Analysis & Containment: Lead fast-response technicalinvestigations (8D, 5-Why) for prototype build issues, test benchfailures, and early launch non-conformances related to electrical hardwareand software/firmware integration.
• On-SiteAudits & Launch Support: Perform process audits (VDA 6.3) atsupplier facilities producing high-voltage electronics, cell assemblies,and motor windings to verify production rate capabilities (Run-at-Rate)and cleanliness standards (e.g., ISO cleanrooms for electronics).
• Cross-FunctionalAlignment: Work alongside McLaren Electric Powertrain Engineering,Vehicle Integration, and Manufacturing to align functional specs withsupplier capability.
