Principal Engineering Consultant specialising in the supply of Engineering Professionals within Aerospace and other sectors

Summary

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying opportunities for improving all quality aspects of business systems and production-related activities. Investigating customer returns and identifying systemic opportunities for improvement across the business.

Duties

  1. Manage and deal with supplier quality issues by liaising closely with internal departments, suppliers, and third parties.
  2. Initiate Supplier Corrective Actions Requests (SCARs) and review corrective actions, understanding root causes; implement effective corrective actions using tools such as 8D or 5Y.
  3. Drive and manage root cause analysis (RCA) activities internally.
  4. Manage activities across the value stream(s), including non-conformance system completion.
  5. Perform internal and external audits to ensure conformance of documentation, products, and processes.
  6. Review, complete, and verify First Article Inspections.
  7. Undertake failure analysis on returned products, generating data and analysis that contribute to accurate 8D reporting, corrective action, and root cause analysis for improvement.
  8. Analyze internal production process failures, working closely with production teams.

Qualifications

NC/BTEC in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience in a quality control role.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience working in an ISO9001 environment and working knowledge of AS9100.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters is an advantage.
  • Experience reading and understanding detailed drawings is essential.
  • Qualified Internal Auditor preferred.
  • Experience with SharePoint IT systems and ERP systems like IFS is a benefit.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Numeric and computer literate.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Experience in inspection processes.

Personal Attributes

A proactive, analytical self-starter capable of prioritizing and managing workload effectively. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail. Able to deliver accurate and focused responsibilities.

Works as part of a central quality team of 7 members.
