Job summary

BMSL Group Ltd in Somerset is recruiting a Supplier Quality Engineer to support QA activities across the Hinkley Point C project. The role combines supplier development, audits and quality improvement across a regulated supply chain.

Working in a hybrid model with site visits and procurement collaboration, you will ensure suppliers meet project quality requirements, drive corrective actions and contribute to long-term nuclear infrastructure delivery.

Qualifications

• ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in Supplier Quality, QA or QE roles.
• Audit experience and closure of findings.

Responsibilities

• Qualify, assess and approve suppliers against project quality requirements.
• Conduct supplier audits and monitor compliance.
• Manage supplier performance and drive improvement plans.
• Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Support supplier down-selection through PQQ and tenders.
• Review CQAPs and ITPs, ensuring manufacturing quality documentation.

Supplier Quality Engineer | Quality Assurance | Nuclear Engineering Project - Hinkley Point C, Somerset / Hybrid Working - Up to £70,000 + £5,420 Car Allowance + Benefits - 9-Day Fortnight Available

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a major engineering organisation delivering work on Hinkley Point C, one of the UK's largest and most significant infrastructure projects.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of a highly regulated engineering environment, helping ensure quality standards are achieved throughout a complex international supply chain supporting the delivery of critical nuclear infrastructure.

The position combines hybrid working with supplier visits and site-based activities, offering a varied role with significant stakeholder engagement and long-term career prospects.

Candidates from nuclear, defence, aerospace, rail, power generation, oil & gas, heavy engineering, manufacturing or other regulated industries are encouraged to apply.

The Role

As Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting supplier quality assurance, supplier development and quality improvement activities across the project supply chain. Working closely with procurement, engineering, manufacturing and construction teams, you will ensure suppliers consistently meet project quality requirements while supporting continuous improvement and performance enhancement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Qualify, assess and approve suppliers against project quality requirements


• Conduct supplier audits and monitor supplier compliance


• Manage supplier performance and support supplier improvement plans


• Investigate non-conformances and drive robust corrective actions


• Facilitate root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities


• Support supplier down-selection activities through PQQ and tender evaluations


• Review and monitor Contract Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs)


• Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and manufacturing quality documentation


• Support source inspection and manufacturing surveillance activities


• Participate in supplier kick-off meetings and quality reviews


• Work with project teams to identify and mitigate quality risks across the supply chain


• Promote a strong quality culture and positive nuclear safety behaviours

Requirements

• ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor qualification


• Experience within Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering


• Experience conducting supplier audits and managing audit findings to closure


• Strong understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, inspection and quality control processes


• Experience managing supplier performance and corrective actions


• Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies


• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and multiple project stakeholders


• Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience

Desirable Experience

• Nuclear sector experience


• CQI, IRCA, ASQ CQE or similar professional membership


• Experience supporting large-scale EPC, construction or engineering projects


• Experience within highly regulated industries


• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including fabrication, coating, NDT or complex engineered products
