Job summary

The RAC is seeking a SuperFlex Patrol Roadside Mechanic to join our Guildford cluster, covering Woking and nearby towns. You’ll start with a RAC van, fuel card, and full uniform, with a structured development pathway and industry accreditation opportunities.

Expect a 40-hour week, shifts across early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and a competitive package up to £61,000 including overtime. London Weighting applies where relevant.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience in vehicle maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Attend road call-outs to repair vehicles on-site.
• Maintain and manage your toolkit and van stock.
• Provide high-quality service to RAC members and diagnose faults.

As a Superflex Patrol Roadside Mechanic, you’ll provide the adaptability our service relies on.

Competitive salary

£55,869 basic salary (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance if applicable), with the opportunity to earn up to £61,000

Weekly variety

You’ll work the on average 40 hours per week across the year, receiving your roster seven days in advance with your core working hours confirmed three days prior.

Thrive outside of 9-5

Shifts will fall between 06:00 and 02:00, and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Guildford cluster, covering areas like Guildford, Woking, Farnham, Camberley, Aldershot, Fleet, Godalming, Haslemere, Lightwater. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
