Job summary

Heyne Tillett Steel invites applications for its 2027 Summer Placement Programme. Ambitious Civil or Structural Engineering undergraduates will gain industry experience on live projects for a minimum of 8 weeks, supported by director-led teams and site visits.

Placement focuses on practical design, structural analysis, and exposure to a broad portfolio from refurbishments to large new builds, helping you develop professional skills in a supportive, employee-owned environment.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of basic design calculations per Eurocode standards.
• Understanding of designing beams and columns in steel and concrete.
• On track for a 2:1 or above in current studies.

Responsibilities

• Embed within Director-led teams on a diverse portfolio of projects including refurbishments and new builds.
• Attend site visits to understand how design translates to construction.
• Develop practical, transferable structural engineering skills during the placement.
