Kier Group is offering a Summer Placement for a Quantity Surveyor student to join the Infrastructure team, working on the Water sector projects in East Sussex. The position is based in Falmer with 8 weeks at 40 hours per week and starts in July 2027.

The role provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and potential progression to the Graduate Scheme. Applicants must be returning to university after the placement and should hold a driving licence.

Summer Placement Quantity Surveyor

We're looking for a Summer Placement Quantity Surveyor Student to join our Infrastructure team. You will be working in our Water sector and assist on projects for our Southern Water framework across East Sussex.

Location: Falmer, East Sussex Starting Salary: £26,208 per annum Pathway: 8 Weeks– 40hrs per week . Potential to move onto the Graduate Scheme Starting date:July 2027 We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Summer Placement Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the nuclear team assisting in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of infrastructure projects. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and develop a strong foundation in quantity surveying.

What will your day-to-day duties include?

• Manage commercial resources of the project
• Assisting in maximising gross profit for projects
• Assessing, reviewing, and mitigating commercial/contractual risks as well as value work executed by sub-contractors
• Helping prepare and submit tenders and contract documents.
• Collaborating with the project team to prepare progress reports and financial statements

When you join, you will be enrolled onto our summer placement scheme. The programme will take 8 weeks to complete and has been designed to immerse yourself in the world of construction, you'll get to see your learnings in real world situations and gain practical experiences to support the rest of your degree.

What are we looking for?

We're on the lookout for students undertaking a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, who can join us on an 8-week placement across July - August. You must be returning to university upon completion of your placement.
