Job summary

Arup in London is offering a Civil Engineer (Maritime) Summer Internship. You will contribute to port developments, coastal protection schemes and waterfront masterplanning, gaining exposure across preliminary design through to construction support.

You are studying Civil/Environmental/Structural or Geotechnical Engineering and bring enthusiasm for sustainable maritime solutions, with a willingness to learn, collaborate with clients and take on site visits.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Civil/Environmental/Structural or Geotechnical engineering degree.
• Interest in maritime, coastal and waterborne infrastructure.
• Knowledge of geotechnics, environment, structures and coastal processes.
• Strong communication, collaboration and ability to manage priorities.
• Experience in port, harbour, shipyard or coastal infrastructure.
• Familiarity with CAD, GIS and FEA software.
• Programming experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and design of port infrastructure, waterborne transport facilities, coastal protection and waterfront developments.
• Produce reports, drawings, calculations, specifications, feasibility studies and business cases.
• Engage with clients such as investors, port authorities, Environment Agency, energy companies and local authorities.
• Undertake site visits and surveys with clients and stakeholders.
