Job summary

A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd is hiring a Sandwich Artist in the Subway department at Fairfield SPAR. The role involves serving customers, preparing sandwiches to order, and maintaining space in a friendly, team-based setting.

Reporting to the Subway Duty Manager, you will ensure accurate payments, comply with safety standards, and contribute to a high-volume convenience store environment. The position offers part-time hours with a wages pace near national guidelines.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry is preferred.
• Some understanding of health and food safety responsibilities in a food environment.
• Ability to contribute ideas for delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of menu items and explain options to customers.
• Neatly prepare sandwiches according to orders.
• Restock sandwich ingredients to ensure supply during shift.
• Use till to record orders, take payments and give correct change.
• Adhere to Subway, SPAR and company policies and procedures.
• Follow food handling, safety and sanitation standards in all steps.

We have an exciting opportunity for a 'Sandwich Artists' to work in the SUBWAY department within our Fairfield SPAR store who enjoy having fun working as part of a small team. We are looking for someone who is motivated, friendly, hands‑on. Reporting directly to the Subway Duty Manager, as a Sandwich Artist in our Subway, you will display exceptional customer service, greeting and interacting with our customers in helpful and friendly manner, creating a pleasant experience while completing orders.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explain options to Subway customers accurately.
• Neatly prepare sandwiches according to customer orders.
• Re‑stock sandwich ingredients to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift.
• Use the till to record the order, take the payment and give correct change where necessary.
• Understand and adhered to all Subway, SPAR and company operating processes, policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all food handling, safety, and sanitation standards when storing/preparing/serving food and cleaning the department.

Key Skills/Knowledge

• Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry is preferred
• Some understanding of health and food safety legislative responsibilities in a food environment
• Ability to contribute ideas for delivering exceptional customer service and driving the business at SPAR Fairfield forward
• Keen and enthusiastic approach to working both in a team and independently
