Job summary

MPI Limited in Scotland is seeking experienced Substation Fitters to join our growing team on transmission and distribution projects across Scotland. The role involves installing HV plant and equipment from 33kV to 400kV, wiring transformers, busbars, earthing systems and connecting infrastructure.

You will travel to sites across Scotland, with excellent safety standards and opportunities to advance within a supportive, expanding business.

Qualifications

• EUSR SHEA Power certification preferred.
• Manual handling training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and assemble HV plant and equipment on substations from 33kV to 400kV.
• Carry out installation of transformers, busbars and earthing systems.
• Erect structural steel/aluminium and ensure alignment and security.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist on-site issue resolution.
• Work to health, safety and quality requirements.
• Deliver installation works safely and efficiently.
• Liaise with Site Managers and Project Teams to support delivery.
• Ensure materials and equipment are available when required.
• Complete site documentation and reporting accurately.

About the role:

Due to continued growth across our Substations business in Scotland, we're looking to recruit experienced Substation Fitters to support a growing portfolio of transmission and distribution projects.

With work taking place across multiple locations throughout Scotland, successful candidates could be based on projects anywhere in the country. As a result, a flexible approach to travel and working away from home is essential. What you'll be doing:

• Install and assemble HV plant and equipment on substations from 33kV to 400kV.
• Carry out installation of transformers, busbars, connectors, earthing systems, cables and associated infrastructure.
• Erect aluminium and steel structures and ensure equipment is correctly aligned and secured.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist in resolving on-site installation issues.
• Work in line with all health, safety and quality requirements
• Deliver installation works safely and efficiently.
• Liaise with Site Managers, Supervisors and Project Teams to support project delivery.
• Ensure equipment and materials are available when required.
• Complete site documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.

Who we're looking for:

• Experience in substation installation works and site procedures.
• EUSR SHEA Power
• Manual Handling
• Ability to work at heights
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable but no essential:

• SSE, SPEN or National Grid authorisations.
• MEWP, Telehandler or ROTO certification.
• Experience with transformer and HV switchgear installation and alignment.

Licence/Certification:
