Job summary
SSEN Transmission is seeking a senior Substation Design and Technical Authority to lead the Substation Team in Scotland. You will shape engineering guidance, manage workload, and ensure safety and compliance across projects.
The role requires a degree in engineering and Chartered Engineer status, with extensive experience in designing, constructing and installing transmission substations. A hybrid working pattern and a competitive package are on offer.
Qualifications
- Degree in an engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
- Experience leading a team of subject-matter experts as a Design and Technical Authority.
- Expert-level experience in design, construction and installation of transmission substations.
- Strong ability to assess issues in substation design and understand operation/maintenance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Substation Team including workload and resource planning, recruitment, development and line management.
- Lead design reviews as the Design Authority and identify necessary technical scope changes.
- Develop, maintain and manage technical specifications and guidance notes for Substation electrical design.
- Review test plans and supplier qualifications as part of the Technical Authority.
