Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + benefits supporting your finances, wellbeing, and family.

The role

As part of SSEN Transmission’s Offshore Portfolio, we seek a Substation Project Engineer for our Offshore AC Project Engineering team. You will help deliver Island projects supporting our net zero goals, involving state-of-the-art AC plant, grid control, and stabilization technology.

You will

• Create scope, site plans, layouts, and single line diagrams for new and replacement projects up to 400kV.
• Review designs from contractors/consultants and witness Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Implement safety by design principles to manage engineering and safety risks.
• Support site and operational teams to ensure quality and network security.
• Evaluate tenders, procure, and manage specialist services.

You have

• Experience with transmission-level substation projects, including design review, testing, installation, and commissioning up to 400kV (AIS and GIS).
• Understanding of legislation affecting transmission network management, including CDM and safety regulations.
• Problem-solving skills and a strong character to address critical issues.
• Excellent communication skills, diligence, and task prioritization ability.
• A degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, with a Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
