Job summary

Babcock International is seeking a Submarine Maintenance Planning Engineer to support through-life maintenance and optimisation for the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. Based at the Bristol area with hybrid working, you’ll interact with Royal Navy and MoD partners to solve complex engineering challenges and drive improvements.

You will balance programme demands with operational needs, ensuring safe and available submarine capability while developing specialist expertise across a world-class defence

Qualifications

• Experience in an engineering role with knowledge of maintenance, asset management or defect rectification activities.
• Understanding of complex engineering systems and through-life support principles.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders.
• Experience identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of submarine systems would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance planning and optimisation activities across submarine programmes.
• Collaborate with SMEs, the Royal Navy, MoD and industry partners to deliver engineering solutions.
• Manage maintenance requirements and balance operational priorities against programme demands.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive enhancements to maintenance processes.
• Contribute to delivering safe, effective and available submarine capability for the UK defence community.
