Job summary

The Rosalind Franklin Institute is seeking a Research Associate to advance mass spectrometry imaging, focusing on SIMS modalities for near-cellular resolution in tissue samples. You will work with cutting-edge instrumentation and collaborate across biological and MS teams to push the boundaries of chemical imaging.

You will design experiments, contribute to outputs such as papers and patents, and supervise students or visitors while developing scientific independence within a dynamic,

Qualifications

PhD/DPhil required or submitted; initial appointment at £37,500 with uplift on qualification.
Experience developing SIMS modalities for high-sensitivity, high-resolution imaging.
Ability to plan and conduct experiments and supervise students/visitors.

Responsibilities

Develop new SIMS modalities for enhanced sensitivity and spatial resolution.
Collaborate with biological and MS experts to optimise MSI conditions.
Design, model and construct modalities for subcellular chemical imaging.
Lead outputs such as papers and patents and supervise junior researchers.
