NEOS Engineering is recruiting a Sub Agent for the Lower Thames Crossing project in the UK. You will own a defined section of works, oversee engineering activities and support major civil and earthworks packages.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Commercial and Planning teams, manage resources, and ensure delivery aligns with programme goals and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven civil engineering experience on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading an engineering team and coordinating with multiple functions.
• Strong understanding of programmes, resources and productivity.

Responsibilities

SUB AGENT

Lower Thames Crossing

NEOS Engineering are currently recruiting for a Sub Agent to join an established engineering contractor working on the Lower Thames Crossing project.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sub Agent / Section Engineer / Site Engineer with a strong background in civil engineering, earthworks and major infrastructure to take responsibility for a defined section of the project.

You’ll provide leadership across the engineering function, coordinate delivery with the wider construction team and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, quality and commercial requirements.

THE ROLE

As Sub Agent, you’ll take ownership of a defined section of the Lower Thames Crossing, overseeing engineering activities and supporting the delivery of major civil and earthworks packages.

You’ll work closely with the wider project team across Engineering, Construction, Commercial and Planning, ensuring resources are effectively managed and works remain aligned with programme and project requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and support the engineering team, providing clear technical direction and guidance.
• Oversee the delivery of earthworks, groundworks and associated civil engineering activities.
• Manage construction sequencing and support the development of detailed delivery plans.
• Assist with programme planning, forecasting and resource requirements.
• Coordinate engineering activities with Construction, Planning and Commercial teams.
• Support constructability reviews and identify opportunities to improve delivery.
• Assist with temporary works planning, identifying potential risks and appropriate controls.
• Monitor productivity, resources and programme performance across your section.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with required health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Identify and resolve technical and operational issues to maintain progress.
• Provide support, mentoring and technical guidance to Site and Section Engineers.
• Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Promote a strong culture around safety, quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a Sub Agent with:

• Proven experience within civil engineering and major infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in earthworks, groundworks or major civils.
• Previous experience managing or leading an engineering team.
• Good understanding of construction programmes, resources and productivity.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and quality requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Commercial, Planning and Construction functions.
• Relevant engineering qualification, ideally a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Ideally working towards ICE professional accreditation.
• A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of a section of works.
